and more

This one's for Ben's dorkinessThis one's for Anne's surprising punkness

And this is because we're all so cute.

I liked how much Ike was smiling in these.

There are so many smiling photos from this day, that I thought this one was great.

Patches is so badass, she makes Samuel L. Jackson look like plankton.

More photos

Ben had a mullet.

other than Ricki Lake naked, it was great

Well, Bloggers and Blogettes, I'm in Maine. Did I already write about this? I was going to go to Ohio in anticipation of Sophie's arrival, but I had to keep holding off on buying the tickets, because I couldn't tell exactly what day I was going to be able to leave. When I finally knew, though, the tickets had quadrupled in price, and it just wasn't realistic anymore to make it out. Fear not! I'll make it out eventually. In early June, I hope. I'm trying to get a job, though, so it sort of depends on that as well.

You know what I've always thought was hilarious? I will tell you. The signs on automatic doors that say CAUTION AUTOMATIC DOOR. First, who needs the warning. Especially when they're sliding doors. Though that could actually be pretty funny. Leaning against the wall, minding your own business, and then "AaAAUAGHH!" Second, what is with the way they're written? I really read it as "automatic caution door." This door automatically cautions me. cool. And then have to scramble it around to Caution, automatic door. Does having hte words in different colors really justify putting the words in that order? Why? Why?!! Whew. I need to calm down a little bit.

I keep my feet warm on my computer's power bar. Sad.

I watched The Business of Being Born last night, which, based on their Netflix review, Ben and Jaime have seen. I liked it. Other than the obvious bias, and Ricki Lake, and Ricki Lake naked, I thought it was great.

Old photos

I've been looking around trying to find that one black photo album we all made of Mom. While trying to find it, though, I of course ended up opening up boxes with tons of other photo albums. I opened some up, and thought there were some great photos.

So, I picked some photos that I thought were either very cute, very incriminating, or just very interesting. And no, I didn't scan them. A) the scanner quality here sucks B) it takes forever. Instead, I took photos. I don't know what the best setting is to have the camera on, but I tried it a few different ways, and macro really seemed to work best. You can fillet me for doing this, but just remember. The photos are all still here, in their original photo-y form. They can be scanned nicely if you want me to. Oh, and they are all put neatly back exactly where they came from, fear not. Oh, and there are doubles of some of these, if you actually want an original. So, here goes. I might spend a few posts covering the ones I did, since there are a few.

Some of these I like because we've all seen the one where we're all smiling, or looking the right way, and these ones where we aren't all cooperating or doing the right thing are much more interesting.

Lauren!

Ben, you are awesome and scary. Who is this in front of you?
Anne!

I'm attempting to learn how to draw trees. I hate trees.

THINGS!

The back-up singers must hate the American Idol contestants. Considering how much the contestants struggle alone, I cringe at the thought of them trying to do harmonies with one another.

Happy birthday, Sam!! Happy birthday, Sophia! I am so jealous that you guys get to share a birthday. Evie just missed mine, and I can't imagine getting lucky enough to have another niece or nephew born close enough in April to get my hopes up. Who knows, though, we are prone to April birthdays.

Is Sophia Sophia, or will she be called Sophie? Because I think Ella and Sophie sounds really good together. 21.25" is pretty long, right? Let's look it up... .25" over average. Nice job, Sophia.

Well, this is it. The end of the academic year. I took my last exam today at 2pm, and my room is all clean and mostly empty. I've taken two loads of my junk over to the house I'm renting, where the landlord (Blaise) is kind enough to let us store some stuff there til our lease begins. My microwave and fridge are gone, so I've been eating peanut butter and jelly out of the jars. Not like I wasn't doing that before my fridge and microwave were gone, but when they were still here, I at least had the PB&J with some cold pop and a bag of popcorn afterwards. :-P

However, during all my cleaning I found $7 in change on the floor, so I'm going to have a vending machine feast! Pop, popcorn, and maybe a candy bar. Ohhhhhhhhh, yeah!

Mandy's Art Studio: XII

And that is the end of anything from my painting class this year.

Mandy's Art Studio: XI

Thread. The lighting that I took this photo in gave it a sort of false glow. I never remember to take them during the day, when the sun is out, so I always have that lightbulb glare.

Optimus Maximus!!!

The bookmark bit on Firefox rocks my world. I am seriously in love with its convenience, and the cute icons that I get for my sites.

Have you guys seen the OLED keyboard Optimus Maximus? I know Ben has, if he still hasn't overcome his engadget addiction. Actually, even with the engadget addiction conquered, I bet he still would have been on top of this. And probably Brad, too. Anyways, for those of you who haven't seen it yet, here's engadget playing around with it:

Happy Friday

Classes are over, yay! They finished officially on Wednesday, but my last class was Tuesday night. In the last two days, I've probably gained about five pounds from never leaving my room and eating croissants, baklava, and peanut butter cookies.

A new bakery opened a little while ago on Main St. We now have: A movie theater, a used book store, a new book store (grand opening is tonight), a cafe with fantastic sandwiches, a bakery, and a thrift store. Main St. just keeps getting better and better. Anyways, the guy who opened the bakery is so friendly, and I don't know how he manages to make everything in that tiny space. It's literally just one room with a counter dividing it, and some ovens on the other side with a table to prepare things. Here is a cinnamon roll with a veery good sausage and cheese croissant.

I don't know why deodorants are always lying about how clear they are. The Degree UltraClear I'm using right now has a big Little Black Dress Approved sticker on its cap, not to mention it's called UltraClear. But no, if I don't put it on after I'm all dressed, I end up with big white streaks everywhere. Thank you, deodorant liars.

There's a web site where people submit videos of themselves crying while eating. In a not so shocking move, it's called cryingwhileeating.com. I was pretty horrified about this when I first only saw stills of some people crying while eating ice cream, until I realized that a) they sent them in themselves and b) they're amazingly bad at pretending to cry.

Mandy's Art Studio: X

In painting, our professor let us do whatever we wanted for our last thing. And apparently, when I'm allowed to do whatever I want, I do cartoons. Or at least I did this time.

So, here is my very fat bunny. With a curious bird.
When Dad saw this when he came to visit, all he said was, "I thought you painted in more detail." :-P

gettin my blogging groove on

Thanks for the e-card, Ben and Jaime! I like those little guys. The cake comment was my favorite. "I saved you some cake." "Noooo!!"

Anne sent me a kickass pin/button/whatever you call it for my birthday (in addition to teh American Apparel double breasted cardigan I'd had my eye on, and a new book, yay!).

Here's the pin in action:

Double Breasted cardigan:

Close-up of the awesomeness:

And then Jaime just did her post about the bumper sticker for me:
Notice any similarities?

So I googled it, and they're both designs by Sarah Utter. My life, sadly, is pretty much summed up with her designs. Except I don't like public transportation. But I want to. But wait....I've been taking the bus back and forth from Halifax, and I love that...so maybe I DO love public transportation. Just not in Columbus.

The Yelling Bee

So, the one-act play festival.

Here's Sarah Furey, my future roommate and 5 year-old bee.

Sarah, Nick, and Brian

Nick demoralizing preschoolers

So, here's the skit. If you mind bad language, then I really wouldn't bother watching it. I know it's hard to hear parts. But just imagine that they're funny. And keep in mind that Nick's rant is improv.

And thanks, Kristen, for the awesome video of it.
